Revelry of the Oprichniki

This scene is from the film ‘Ivan the Terrible’. There’s something quite bacchic about this whole scene to me.

The lyrics of the song that starts at 4:30 in English goes something like this:

To the Boyars came dreaded guests,
Axes danced on the Boyars heads,

To the action, To the action
Speak, speak, speak, to sentence
Let the axes drop!
Burn it, burn it, burn it

And the gates fell to the ground
Golden goblets went all around

To the action, To the action
Speak, speak, speak, to sentence
Let the axes drop!
Burn it, burn it, burn it

(Then starts a conversation between Ivan Vasilyevich and his cousin Vladimir Staritsky)

And when the guests all tipsy, homeward turned
The house they had just left was burned

To the action, To the action
Speak, speak, speak, to sentence
Let the axes drop!
Burn it, burn it, burn it

If anyone wants to correct the lyrics at all, feel free to.
