August 1st 30BC

Marcus Antonius

MARK ANTONY
Peace!
Not Caesar’s valour hath o’erthrown Antony,
But Antony’s hath triumph’d on itself.

CLEOPATRA
So it should be, that none but Antony
Should conquer Antony; but woe ’tis so!

MARK ANTONY
I am dying, Egypt, dying; only
I here importune death awhile, until
Of many thousand kisses the poor last
I lay up thy lips.

-Antony and Cleopatra, Act 4 scene 15
by William Shakespeare

Marcus Antonius committed suicide on August 1st 30BC, so here is my small homage to him. Hail to you Marcus Antonius, great warrior; what a fascinating figure you are.
